The Palmaseca Solar Farm Project is one of the largest and most ambitious initiatives by Energy Developments LLC, boasting a capacity of 280.1 MW and covering an intervention area of 28 hectares in Palmira, Valle del Cauca. Currently in its third phase of development, this solar farm is projected to generate an estimated 5,398 GW-h of energy annually, establishing itself as a significant source of clean energy for the region. Construction began in August 2022, and its operation promises to transform the local energy landscape.
The environmental impact of the Palmaseca Solar Farm is profound, as it plays a crucial role in reducing CO₂ emissions in the region. This project not only generates large-scale renewable energy but also strengthens the region’s energy security by reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Moreover, the solar farm provides a substantial economic boost to the area, creating jobs during both the construction and operational phases, and stimulating the local economy.
Features of the Palmaseca Solar Farm
- Impact: It will supply clean energy to more than 30,000 Colombian households.
- Current Status: The construction of the Palmaseca Solar Farm has been successfully completed and is currently in the final phase of connection to the national grid.
- Energy Commercialization: The energy generated by the plant will be commercialized through a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the company Celsia.
