Informacion del proyecto
The Acandí Energy Transition Project is a pioneering initiative of Energy Developments LLC in the municipality of Acandí, department of Chocó, Colombia. With a generation capacity of 16.5 MW, this project is part of the country’s energy transition strategy, seeking to diversify the energy matrix and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. This solar park will be built on an area of 30.7 hectares, comprising three photovoltaic generation plants located in Acandí, Capurganá, and Triganá, with installed capacities of 10 MW, 5 MW, and 1.5 MW, respectively.
Environmental Impact and Sustainability.
The Acandí Energy Transition Project stands out for its commitment to sustainability and climate change mitigation. By generating electricity from renewable sources, the project will contribute significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions. It is estimated that the solar farm will generate enough clean energy to power thousands of homes, thereby reducing the region’s carbon footprint and improving air quality.
In addition, the project has a strong focus on food security, incorporating hydroponic systems under the solar panels for vegetable production. This integration not only maximizes land use, but also provides a constant source of fresh, nutritious food for local communities, improving their well-being and contributing to environmental sustainability.
Technological Innovation and Smart Operation
The solar farm will be equipped with advanced monitoring and control technologies. A command and control center will use artificial intelligence and predictive algorithms to optimize system operation, ensuring that the plant operates at maximum efficiency. For example, the system will be able to automatically adjust the cleaning of the solar panels based on weather conditions, such as dust accumulation or rainfall, ensuring optimal energy harvesting and minimizing operating costs.
In addition, the use of lithium-ion batteries will allow the energy generated to be stored, ensuring a constant and reliable supply, even in adverse weather conditions. These batteries will provide up to 6.5 MW of additional power, ensuring that the community of Acandí has access to clean, sustainable energy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Social Impact and Economic Development
The Acandí Energy Transition Project not only focuses on power generation, but also has a significant impact on the economic and social development of the region. During the construction phase, more than 1,000 jobs are expected to be created, providing employment opportunities in a region facing economic challenges. These jobs will not only be limited to construction, but will also extend to the operation and maintenance of the park, creating a solid foundation for continued economic development.
In addition, the project will promote the integration of local suppliers and the development of technical skills in renewable energy, strengthening the region’s business fabric. The installation of 4,500 solar luminaires with battery storage will improve the safety and well-being of the inhabitants, enabling greater economic and social activity during nighttime hours and improving the quality of life in the community.
In short, the Acandí Energy Transition Project is not just an energy infrastructure project; it is a manifestation of Energy Developments LLC’s commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable and prosperous future for Colombia. With a focus on innovation, sustainability and community development, this project represents a unique opportunity to transform the Chocó region and contribute significantly to the country’s energy transition.
